Centurion Warranties are proud to confirm that we will again be supporting Árón Taylor-Smith in this year’s BTCC (British Touring Car Championship)
The current season is set to kick off at Brands this coming weekend (1st & 2nd April) and is anticipated to be the most competitive season of the Championship’s history to date.
Reigning champion Gordon Shedden returns for 2017 racing alongside Matt Neal with Halfords Yuassa Racing in the Honda Civic Type-R hoping to defend his title for a second year which would make him 3 time back to back champion since first lifting the title in 2015. However – with the talent lined up down the field, it will be an increasingly difficult task as the majority of competitors are already proven race winners and champions.
The Touring Cars is the UK’s most popular motor sport event (outside F1) and has a long history of showcasing championship talent such as Jack Sears, Robb Gravett, Alain Menu, Matt Neal, Andrew Jordan and Jason Plato to name a few. The inaugural season dates back to 1958 and since then, support has grown year after year attracting massive crowds to the UK’s most famous race circuits including Brands Hatch and Silverstone together with an ever increasing TV audience with race days being shown live on ITV4.
Geoff Baker, Managing Director mentioned “The decision to promote our brand via this championship is a fantastic opportunity for us. We have grown rapidly over the past 2 years and with a company history going back to 1978, it is an ideal chance for us to get our brand out in front of the ever increasing audience that follows the Touring Cars. Árón is a fantastic chap both in and out of the car, he has helped us develop and naturally we wish him the best as a Brand Ambassador of Centurion in the coming season. He had a brilliant season last year with Team BKR competing in their first season and having now signed a deal with MG Triple Eight for 2017, we are hoping for him to be in with a chance of going to the last meeting at the Brands Hatch GP circuit at the final race weekend over the 30th September and 1st October with a chance of taking the championship title”
Árón told us: “Over the last couple of years I’ve really gotten to know everyone at Centurion Warranties. They are a great group of people who, like myself, love the BTCC and are the perfect fit for what I want to achieve. Their enthusiasm behind this partnership is what makes the difference as we all get to enjoy the race weekends as one big team.”
